• Why should I buy a Puter instead of a normal PC?
A Puter is an attractively packaged powerful computer, built in a childs desk and complete with a chair. Cables have been moved out of sight and are inaccessible to little hands. The keyboard and mouse are especially chosen so that they not only appeal to young children but are also at their size. The screen shows their favourite cartoon character, hero or team. The only button to press is the on/off button. The software lets them learn whilst playing. And best of all, a Puter just plugs in and plays!

• What benefits will my child have from using a computer from an early age?
The software on the Puter can provide a host of learning experiences, many linking in directly with the national curriculum at all key stages. The activities range from colours to shapes to literacy to numeracy and many, many more. See Sherston Home for a range of games.

• Do you deliver anywhere in the UK and if so how much?
We provide specialist courriers to ensure safe delivery of your Puter throughout the mainland UK. Cost will depend on distance. Please contact us for a detailed quotation or for delivery outside this area.

• Is online support available?
Yes, each Puter comes with full support via both telephone and email for a full year from purchase.

• From what age can my child use a computer?
Although it depends on each individual child, we have found that a child between 2 and 3 can already get to grips with the operation of a mouse, improving hand eye coordination. This then opens up a world of possibilities for further learning on the Puter.

• What do I do if something goes wrong?
All Puters are covered by a 12 month part and labour warranty starting from the delivery date. This means that if your Puters develops a fault we will replace the faulty part.

• What if my child outgrows the desk?
Inside a Puter desk is a fully functional Windows computer, although much smaller than any desktop. If the desk needs changing for whichever reason, a few simple steps let you set it up elsewhere:
  ° Switch off your Puter
  ° Open the desk lid
  ° Disconnect all cables
  ° Remove computer and screen
  ° Setup elsewhere
  ° Reconnect and enjoy

• What age range covers the educational software that is installed?
The educational software available for a Puter covers the 2 to 16+ age range. Your school will typically be able to recommend applications to match the curriculum and we'll be happy to recommend based on our experience and your childs interests.

• Can you giftwrap?
Although designed for kids, Puters can be pretty large to gift wrap! We can take that chore off your hands and can provide your Puter, packed in a special sturdy box, well padded, and gift wrapped in a style of your chosing (if you like, including giant bow!). Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.

• Can I extend my Puter?
Yes, you Puter is build using off the shelf PC components. You can walk into an computer store and buy a different keyboard, mouse, hard disk, screen or any other component and it will work directly on your Puter.

• Can I use two keyboards on my Puter?
Certainly, a Puter can, at the same time, have two keyboards connected (e.g. a full size one in addition to the special kids keyboard). Bear in mind though, that only one will be active at any one time.

• Can I play games on my Puter?
Yes, your Puter has full sound and video capabilities as you expect from any computer and can be used to play games. The Puter comes already installed with your choice of educational games.

• Can I play CDs or DVD on my Puter?
All models except the Nursery come with a DVD player built in. For the Nursery model, a CD or DVD is an optional extra. See here for details.

• Can I use the Puter for word processing and other office applications?
Absolutely! A Puter can be used for much, much more than educational games and surfing the internet, thereby growing with your child as needs grow. We can install your choice of office applications at cost (or, in the case of OpenOffice, free!).

• Can I connect my Puter to a printer?
Yes, your Puter does have a parallel printer and USB port and could also be connected to a network printer.

• Has my Puter got internet access?
Yes, provided you have either wired or wireless internet access at home. As standard, our Puters come with wired internet connection. We do provide wireless internet access on all models except the Nursery (where it is an optional extra). See here for details.

• Do I need to install a NetNanny to ensure safe surfing on the internet?
All Puters come fully installed with K9 Web Protection from Blue Coat which provides web content filtering as well as monitoring of all instant messaging.

• Do I need to upgrade my Puter as my child grows?
No, a Puter is built around a very capable computer. Capable enough to serve as your childs own workstation for homework assignments and play well into their teens.

• Do I need to know about computers in order to have a Puter?
Certainly not! Every Puter is fully installed and tested, ready to just plug-in, switch on and play!

• Can I have a bigger monitor/faster processor?
We list a few possibilities for Puter upgrades: faster processor, more memory, a widescreen monitor. However, the list of suggestions is by no means exhaustive.
